Washington (9-37) opens a five-game homestand on Saturday following Friday's 104-94 loss in Philadelphia. The Wizards nearly erased a 15-point first-quarter deficit, getting as close as 85-84 with 6:58 remaining on a dunk by Antawn Jamison, but couldn't complete the comeback.

"You have nothing left in the tank because you have to struggle back from so many points down," said Washington interim coach Ed Tapscott, who fell to 8-27 since taking over for the fired Eddie Jordan on Nov. 24. "If we take the first quarter out, we win by five."

The Wizards, though, lost for the 12th time in 14 games.

"That's been the story all season, we can't close games out," Dominic McGuire said following his career-high 16-point effort.

Jamison, who was left off the Eastern Conference All-Star roster, posted his third consecutive double-double with 25 points and 15 rebounds. He is averaging 22.2 points and 9.8 boards during the Wizards' five-game slide.

In the Clippers' last visit to the Verizon Center on March 15, Jamison had a game-high 36 points with 11 rebounds in Washington's 119-109 overtime victory.

Caron Butler, who scored 20 points Friday, narrowly missed a triple-double in the March 15 win over the Clippers, recording 16 points, 12 boards and seven assists.

While Washington looks for its first victory (0-9) in the second game of a back-to-back this season, the Los Angeles Clippers are going for their first win away from the Staples Center since Dec. 19, when they defeated Indiana 117-109 in double overtime.

Los Angeles (10-36) opened its season-high seven-game road trip on Friday night with a 112-95 loss to Cleveland. Eric Gordon and Steve Novak each hit five 3-pointers, but the Clippers faded after entering the second half with the score tied at 54.

Gordon continues to be a bright spot for a team that has dropped 18 of 20 overall. The rookie guard is averaging 23.8 points and 5.0 assists in his last five games.

Baron Davis had nine points and eight assists on Friday in his second game back from a tailbone injury, while Marcus Camby added four points and five boards in his second game since returning from a sprained left ankle. Zach Randolph missed the trip's opener but is expected to return from a knee injury at some point during the 11-day eastern swing. Davis, Camby and Randolph have not all suited up in the same game since Dec. 20 against the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Wizards have won six of seven at home against the Clippers.
