Los Angeles Clippers Getting Inside 2009-11-26

Los Angeles Clippers Getting Inside 2009-11-26Baron Davis has been remarkably unselfish in helping the Clippers this season in the wake of injuries to Blake Griffin, Eric Gordon, Kareem Rush and DeAndre Jordan. But in Wednesday's loss to the Indiana Pacers, it appeared Davis' bullheadedness got the best of him.

In the first half, Davis was instrumental in leading the team to a nine-point advantage at halftime with 14 points. But the Clippers, who scored only 43 points in the first half, continued to miss shots in the second half, and once Davis could no longer find the range, he seemed to force the action.

And after Davis got tangled up with Indiana's T.J. Ford in the fourth quarter, Davis appeared to lose his composure and willingness to share the basketball. Ford went on to repeatedly get by Davis on the way to easy scores or assists, and the Pacers blew out the Clippers in the fourth quarter as Davis attempted to go mano-a-mano with Ford, leading to many missed jumpers and a complete lack of involvement by the other Clippers on offense.

Davis came into the game averaging 7.3 assists but had only two in the defeat. And even though Davis, a former All-Star, is talented enough to score plenty of points against any team in the league, the Clippers might be better off if he can keep his emotions in check and remember that his teammates have come through for him on various occasions when called upon this season.

The Clippers, who collectively shot 32 percent against the Pacers, will look to find the range in the final game of their two-game road trip, Friday at Detroit.

PACERS 86, CLIPPERS 73: After shutting down Indiana for three quarters, Los Angeles lost its defensive intensity (31 points by the Pacers in the final 12 minutes) in a road loss to fall to 6-10. Rasual Butler was one of several Clippers players who struggled -- he finished with no points in 27 minutes.
