--The Clippers actually had one of their better shooting nights of the season against Detroit, making 49.3 percent of their field-goal tries. --F Zach Randolph said that he is looking forward to returning to Madison Square Garden on the Clippers' current road trip. Randolph played just a little more than one season with the New York Knicks before being acquired by the Clippers last November. Randolph, who averaged 20.5 points in 11 games with the Knicks earlier this season, said he expects a warm reception from the New York fans, especially from actor Spike Lee, who has courtside season tickets. "Oh yeah, Spike's my man," Randolph said.

--G Fred Jones acknowledges that current teammate Steve Novak is an outstanding shooter and says he is surprised when Novak misses an open three-pointer. "But I played with a guy in Indiana named Reggie Miller," Jones said. "And he's the best I've ever seen. What made him so great was all the clutch shots he made to win games."

QUOTE TO NOTE: "Our bigs didn't control the paint like they should have and gave up too many easy buckets around the basket." -- Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy, in the aftermath of the team's loss to Detroit.
