Los Angeles Clippers Notes, Quotes 2009-09-18

Los Angeles Clippers Notes, Quotes 2009-09-18--F Blake Griffin, who strained his right shoulder during a game in the Las Vegas Summer League in July, has been given a clean bill of health from Clippers' team physician Dr. Steven Shimoyama. He is expected to take part in team activities leading up to training camp sans any restrictions. Griffin averaged 19.2 points and 10.8 rebounds in the three games he got into in the LVSL and was named the League's Most Outstanding Player, and the Clippers are hoping he can duplicate those numbers when the games that count begin in six weeks.

-- The Clippers were an average defensive team at the guard spots last season, as evidenced by occasional lockdown performances against the league's elite backcourts followed by defenseless showings against the subpar ones, but they should be better, despite the loss of Alex Acker, in that area in 2009-10. New G Rasual Butler can be a belligerent defender in the mold of Raja Bell off of the bench, and now that G Baron Davis is expected to be fully healthy, he can get after opponents the way he did during his recent successful playoff run with the Golden State Warriors by causing turnovers and hurried decisions by opponents.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "I'm a lot more calm. Marcus (Camby) is a big influence on me, and he helps me out a lot, and I'm taking it a day at a time." -- C DeAndre Jordan.
