--The Clippers' shocking rash of injuries has forced coach Mike Dunleavy to change the starting lineup on a game-to-game basis. The starting five that Dunleavy sent out against the Detroit Pistons represented the 13th different lineup in 33 games. It was the sixth consecutive game that the lineup had changed. The Clippers led the NBA, by a wide margin last year, in player games missed because of injury or illness. Already their total is at 60 this season. --The Clippers have received scant offensive production from their bench this season. Opposing second units have outscored their Clipper counterparts 1,037-589. Going into the season, the Clippers seemed to have the potential for fielding a strong backup corps. But since then, Tim Thomas was traded to New York, rookie Eric Gordon was promoted to the starting lineup when Cuttino Mobley was traded to New York, and Ricky Davis was ineffective while playing through a knee injury. --The Clippers' offensive woes are many but one definite indicator in their difficulty to score is that the Clippers have scored 100 points only nine times in 33 games. They are 0-11 in games in which they have shot under 40 percent from the field and dating back to last season, they have a streak of 42 consecutive games in which they have failed to make 50 percent of their field-goal tries. The Clippers are last in the league in field-goal percentage, at 42.3 percent. The team record for poorest field-goal percentage for a season was set in 1999-2000, the Clippers' first year at Staples Center, when they shot 42.6 percent. That team finished the season with a 15-67 record. Chris Ford started the year as the coach but was fired at mid-season and Jim Todd served as the interim coach for the remainder of the year. Rookie forward Lamar Odom averaged 16.6 points per game. Now in his 10th year, the current Lakers forward still vividly remembers the low points of his rookie year that included losing streaks of 17, 13 and 10 games. At one point, the Clippers lost 49 of 54 games. QUOTE TO NOTE: "I'm not doing my team or myself any service trying to play through these aches and pains." -- Point guard Baron Davis.
