Los Angeles Clippers Notes, Quotes 2009-03-04
--F Al Thornton is averaging a team-high 37.4 minutes per game but only is averaging 5.1 rebounds per game. According to the minutes-per-game rebounding formula that Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy prescribes to, Thornton should be averaging at least 2-3 rebounds more per game. "I'll rebound more," Thornton said when asked what he was going to do to increase his numbers. "I'm going to make a conscious to go get more." Thornton then said jokingly, "Cam gets all the rebounds," referring to teammate Marcus Camby.

--G Mike Taylor said he has not experienced any pain in his surgically repaired right thumb since his return to action. A metal screw was inserted into Taylor's thumb, which he said would remain there permanently. Asked if he anticipated having any problems going through an airport metal security detection, Taylor laughed and said, "I hope not."

--F-C Zach Randolph is going through a tough period because his father back in Indianapolis has been seriously ill. Randolph was granted a leave of absence by the team in order to be with his family. Playing with a heavy heart, Randolph has averaging 25.2 points in the last four games that he has played.

--When Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy was asked if center Marcus Camby was over his ear-infection issues, Dunleavy knocked on wood and said, "I hope so." Camby suffered from his ear infection for more than a week and a half and at one juncture was forbidden by the team doctors from flying. Camby said several doctors told him it was the worst ear infection case they had ever seen.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "I would consider myself a very decent bowler for not bowling a lot." -- Clippers forward Steve Novak, looking forward to the team's annual charity bowling tournament.
