ROTATION: Starters -- Point guard Baron Davis, Shooting guard Cuttino Mobley, Small forward Al Thornton, Power forward Marcus Camby, Center Chris Kaman. Bench -- Forward Tim Thomas, Forward Ricky Davis, Guard Eric Gordon, Guard Mike Taylor, Center Paul Davis.
PLAYER NOTES: --G Mike Taylor already has established a pre-game ritual in his rookie season. Taylor said he and fellow rookie teammate DeAndre Jordan visit the local Denny's after every home shoot-around. Taylor said his late-morning breakfast fare consists of scrambled eggs with cheese, pancakes, potatoes and four strips of bacon. Taylor said that pretty much holds him until his next meal -- a bag of Skittles in the locker room an hour before the game.
--G Baron Davis, like so many NBA players, had an invincible air about him when he entered the NBA. During Davis' first three years with the Charlotte Hornets, he played in every game and he believes that his consecutive games streak was well over 250 games, before he missed his first one.
"That fourth season was when I started having back problems," Davis said. Asked if he had thought about breaking A.C. Green's NBA record of playing in 1,192 consecutive games, Davis laughed and said, "That was my problem. I should have taken some time off before I started having all those injuries."
Davis played in all 82 regular-season games last season with Golden State, the first time he had accomplished that feat since the 2001-2002 season. But he already has missed one game this year.
--F Al Thornton acknowledged that he is getting more favorable calls in his second year than he did as a rookie, on drives to the basket. But Thornton said he has work to do to increase his number of trips to the line even more.
"I have to sell it more," he said, stating that his body language needs to show the officials that he has been fouled in the act of shooting. "I also have to be more aggressive."
Thornton said a good night for him would be to attempt 10-12 free throws. He said he could live with attempting eight but anything under that means that he is not being aggressive enough.
MEDICAL REPORT:
--F Tim Thomas (sprained left ankle) was back after only missing one game.
--F/C Marcus Camby (bruised right heel) has started the past four games but his minutes still are being monitored and restricted by Clippers athletic trainer Jasen Powell.
--G Baron Davis (sprained left ring finger) likely will play with his ring finger and middle finger taped together indefinitely. Davis has shown no residual effects of the bruised tailbone that he suffered several games ago.
--F-C Paul Davis (torn ligament right pinky finger) also will continue to play with his injured finger taped to the one next to it.
