Los Angeles Clippers Roster Report 2008-12-02

Los Angeles Clippers Roster Report 2008-12-02
ROTATION: Starters -- Point guard Baron Davis, Shooting guard Eric Gordon, Small forward Al Thornton, Power forward Zach Randolph, Center Marcus Camby. Bench -- Center/Forward Paul Davis, Guard Mike Taylor, Center/Forward Brian Skinner, Forward Steve Novak.

PLAYER NOTES:

--G Baron Davis had to know that his scoring average would take a dip in his move from the free-wheeling Warriors to the more offensively restricted Clippers. Davis averaged 20.9 points per game the past two years combined with the Warriors. His current scoring average of 17.1 would mark his lowest point production since the 2002-03 season, when he averaged exactly that number in an injury-plagued 50 games with the Hornets.

--G Eric Gordon barely could get any playing time in the first five games, getting a combined 27 minutes in those games, all of which he played. But since the trade that sent starting SG Cuttino Mobley to the New York Knicks, Gordon has taken over the starting job. In his first two starts, he scored 25 points against New Orleans, followed by a 24-point performance against Denver.

--F Marcus Camby is averaging 31 minutes over the past 10 games, during which he is averaging 10.4 rebounds and 2.2 blocks.

MEDICAL WATCH:

--G Ricky Davis (left knee tendinitis) hates to miss games but finally had to acknowledge the pain that has crippled his game so far this year. Davis is unable to jump or cut with his usual explosiveness. There had to be some reason why his field-goal shooting percentage is under 30 percent.

--C Chris Kaman (plantar fasciitis left foot) has been injury-plagued since the midway point of last season. He currently is hobbled by the same injury that wrecked guard Sam Cassell's 2006-07 season, a year after Cassell led the Clippers to their first playoff berth in nine years.

--G Jason Hart (flu-like symptoms) returned after missing only one game. Hart was available, but his playing time has been sporadic because he is not in the regular rotation.

--F/C Brian Skinner (flu-like symptoms) was back after being confined at home for the previous game. Skinner's numbers don't reflect, it but he has provided solid relief off the bench.
