ROTATION: Starters -- Point guard Fred Jones, Shooting guard Eric Gordon, Small forward Al Thornton, Power forward Brian Skinner, Center DeAndre Jordan. Bench -- Guard Baron Davis, Center Marcus Camby, Forward Steve Novak, Center Cheick Samb, Guard Ricky Davis.
PLAYER NOTES: --F Al Thornton continues to be an enigma as far as rebounding goes. Thornton very often grabs four or fewer rebounds, despite playing 35-plus minutes. Although he has started all 46 games, he only is averaging 5.3 rebounds per game.
--F Steve Novak played a season-high 35 minutes against Cleveland and scored 19 points, two fewer than his season high. Novak bounced back from a game in which he missed all seven of his three-point tries against Chicago to bury five of 10 three-pointers against the Cavaliers. Prior to that miserable shooting night against the Bulls, Novak had made 17 of his previous 28 shots from beyond the arc.
--G Fred Jones likely will settle in as the backup point guard once Baron Davis is ready to play starter minutes again. Jones has run the offense quite well as the stand-in starter. The Clippers recently rewarded him by signing him for the remainder of the season when his second 10-day contract expired. Good thing, too because Jones' wife is pregnant with their first child. The due date is in June.
MEDICAL REPORT:
--F Zach Randolph (bruised bone left knee) remains hopeful that he can return at some point during the Clippers' seven-game road trip.
--C Chris Kaman (plantar fasciitis left foot) essentially has become a forgotten figure. Dating back to last season, Kaman now has missed 48 of the past 67 games because of injuries.
--G Mardy Collins (strained left hamstring) was held out for the fourth consecutive game.
--G Mike Taylor (fractured right thumb) said he is experiencing only mild soreness after he completes his range-of-motion exercises.
