Los Angeles Clippers Roster Report 2009-03-04

Los Angeles Clippers Roster Report 2009-03-04
ROTATION: Starters -- Point guard Baron Davis; shooting guard Mike Taylor; small forward Steve Novak; power forward Al Thornton; center Marcus Camby. Bench -- Guard Fred Jones; guard Alex Acker; forward-center Brian Skinner; center DeAndre Jordan

PLAYER NOTES:

--F Steve Novak has gone icy from 3-point range since he connected on 6 of 8 3-pointers in the Clippers' victory Feb. 11 against the New York Knicks. Since that game Novak has made only 12 of 44 three-point shots.

--C DeAndre Jordan likely would have been a lottery pick in this year's draft if he had remained in college and not declared for early entry into the draft last year. Instead, Jones was drafted by the Clippers in the second round. But although he might have lost out in a chunk of money by leaving early, Jones has gained a great deal of experience this season because of the Clippers' injury situation. Jordan has started nine games and played in 38 games. Jordan played in only six of the first 24 games.

--G Fred Jones did not have a job when the season began, but the former slam-dunk champion possibly has earned himself a guaranteed contract with some team next season. Jones has provided the Clippers with solid backcourt play in the wake of all the injuries that have occurred.

MEDICAL WATCH:

--C Chris Kaman (plantar fasciitis left foot) likely will be cleared for contact next week, paving the way for his return. Kaman last played Nov. 26.

--G-F Ricky Davis (tendinitis left knee) suffered a flare-up from the injury that caused him to miss 19 games earlier this season.

--G Eric Gordon (bruised left shoulder) said he is hoping to play Saturday when the Clippers play the Indiana Pacers. Gordon has missed the last three games. "It still hurts but my range of motion gets better each day," Gordon said.

--G-F Mardy Collins (plantar fasciitis right foot) hopes to be able to play next week, if he his condition improves.
