Gary Reece recently retired from his senior executive position with MDC Holdings and volunteers alongside his wife on behalf of Cancer League of Colorado, Advocates for Children and Families First. The Denver Public Library's Fresh City Life program is conducing a 26.5-hour knitting marathon, starting at 3:30 p.m. at various locations Jan. 23. An exact figure is yet to be determined, but Sattler Homes chief Tom Sattler is confident that tours of his High Hopes Show Home generated "several thousand" dollars for The Guild of the Children's Diabetes Foundation at Denver. The 4,500-square-foot Tuscan-style manse in Ravenna, a gated community in Waterton Canyon, was open for public tours over a four-week period in the fall.
At the annual Miracle Treat Day, Dairy Queen restaurants in Denver, Colorado Springs and Cheyenne sold enough Blizzards to raise $72,600 for The Children's Hospital.

Even though he's been traded to the L.A. Clippers, former Denver Nugget
Marcus Camby hasn't forgotten the
children here. Accompanied by his
buddy and former teammate, shooting guard J.R. Smith, 15 youngsters from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver rode in a limousine to Macy's Cherry Creek for some shopping with the
$250 gift cards given to them by the Cambyland Christmas Foundation.
Macy's also chipped in with some
presents for the kids.

Research Insitute. The 2008 Bartenders Martini Miracle Ball, which also featured food from
several area restaurants, was held at The Church nightclub.

The 35th Men's Event, benefiting AMC Cancer
Research Center, is held at the Palm in the
Westin Tabor Center. Nearly 200 civic leaders
are on hand for the dinner and auction that
raises money for AMC's researchers at the
University of Colorado Cancer Center. AMC
scientists place a special emphasis on finding a cure for prostate cancer.
